Europa Universalis 4 - Tips for Beginners

So, you have decided to give Europa Universalis IV a shot, but you are confused about what's going on or find yourself getting destroyed by your enemies. That's why I have compiled a list of tips and strategies for beginner players seeking to improve their chances. I assume you already know the basics on how the game works, if not, play the tutorial first.

1) Play a large nation
It may be tempting to immediately play as a one province minor country and build it up from nothing, but doing so usually takes a lot of experience. If you want to jump in and have fun right away, then you're better off playing bigger nations like England, France, Castile, Ottomans and Muscovy. They start with a large army, plenty of income and they have lots of potential for expansion.

2) Idea groups matter
Choosing an idea group in Europa Universalis 4 is a long-term commitment and should be well thought out. You must look around your empire and consider everything before choosing an idea group, for example, if you're surrounded by provinces of different religion, you'll likely want Religious ideas pretty soon, to get expand more easily. Or if you're playing as Castile or Portugal and want to colonize, then you should get exploration first.

Doors and Rooms 2 Walkthrough: Chapter 1 Stage 1

The first stage is quite straightforward. There are four numbers right next to the door: 4653. This is the password of the safe on the right side of the room. Open the safe with the password and inside you will find the key to the door.

Select the key from your inventory and use it on the door to leave and win the first stage.

Bonus star and quiz

The bonus star is inside the safe with the key. Impossible to miss.

There is a phone on the glass table, that contains the quiz. The quiz requires you to add all the numbers of the safe password, so 4 + 6 + 5 + 3 = 18. Type 18 into the phone and get your bonus star.

First of all tap on the lid that is located inside the stairs to open it. There is a laser pointer inside. Now grab the battery from the table and go to your inventory, select both the battery and the laser pointer and press "combine".

You now have a working laser pointer, select it from your inventory and use it on the painting that has the large arrow pointing up. The painting will slide up and you are free to grab the key that was behind it.

Finally, use the key on the door to open it and exit.

Bonus star and quiz

Look at the other painting, there is a star on the top right side of it. That' your bonus star for this stage.

Go to your inventory and see that there is the number 537 engraved in the star. Use the phone on the table and enter 537 to complete this stage's quiz.

There is a knife on the plate on the front table. Pick it up and use it on the blue cushion on floor. Cut where you see a rectangle shaped outline. Tap on the rip you created to get a keycard.

Next, go to the desk under the window and tap on the box on the table. Tap on all the 4 layers of circles to rotate them into their right positions to form a picture of an open door. Then tap on the white switch next to it.

The box will open and you will find a chip inside. Combine the keycard and the chip to get a working keycard.

Use the keycard on the door lock, the light will turn green and you are free to open the door and leave.

Your first order of business is to find 5 colored notes scattered in this room.

The yellow note is located high above the lamp.
The blue note is on the carpet, in the middle of the floor.
The green note is in the jar on the table.
The red note is in the middle drawer of the cabinet.
The pink note is sticking out from between some books in the bookshelf.

There is a number on every note except the pink one, which has a + sign instead. Now look at the color code to the left of the door. If we replace all the colored notes with their respective numbers/operators in our mind we get:

1258 + 8215 = 9473


That's the answer to the door lock. Type 9473 into the door lock and it will open, allowing you to escape the room.

First of all, there is a cabinet right under the clock. Open the cabinet doors and you will find a battery pack inside.

There is a working flashlight under the table.

Lastly, there is a screwdriver on top of the DVD player, under the TV.

Item locations

Go to your inventory and dismantle the battery pack and then dismantle the flashlight as well. You will get a total of 3 batteries.
Now tap on the door lock and use the screwdriver on all four screws. Tap again to remove the cover, enter the 3 batteries into the slots one-by-one. The light will turn green, now push on the open button and the door is unlocked.
